ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have a funny story about my godson and popcorn. Last year, I bought him a video game for his DS for Christmas. Well, I knew he'd be able to tell what it is by the shape of the box, so I asked his mom (since I was in Florida and not home) to find me a box to put the gift in... She provided a popcorn box.
So, fast forward to my godson opening the gift... And he sees that his brother got this awesome pair of shoes he wanted from his Aunt Heidi. Then, he opens up his gift to find a popcorn box. Now, it never occurred to me, as an adult, that he would actually think it WAS popcorn. I mean, it's a given as an adult that when you open a gift in a box, your gift is probably not what is shown on the box. Well, he's a kid and hasn't learned this yet. The utter look of disappointment on his face was priceless (and, like a bad aunt, I laughed really, really hard because it was hilarious and to this day, I wish my camera had not sat numb in my hands during this episode.)
What makes matters worse, his mother revealed to me, is that my godson HATES popcorn. So not only did he think I gypped with with a gift of popcorn, but it was something he doesnt like to eat at all.
Ahhh... the joys of godmotherdom.
Before I went down there this past week, I had called my godson on the phone. I told him I was coming down and I'd have Christmas gifts. He said, "You're not going to put it in a popcorn box, are you?"
So now I'm forever The Aunt Who Tricked Me with a Present in a Popcorn Box. =)
